{"id":653,"date":"2013-10-07T16:35:50","date_gmt":"2013-10-07T15:35:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/forschungingotha.wordpress.com\/?p=653"},"modified":"2018-03-02T14:20:15","modified_gmt":"2018-03-02T13:20:15","slug":"ausschreibung-im-projekt-hera-1-wissenschaftlicher-mitarbeiter-postdoc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.gotha3.de\/forschungsblog\/archives\/653","title":{"rendered":"Ausschreibung im Projekt HERA: 1 Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter (Postdoc)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The fulltime post-doc position is part of the European HERA-project\u00a0 &#8222;Encounters with the Orient in Early Modern European Scholarship&#8220;, which is a joint project with colleagues in serveral other institutions (Charles Burnett and Jan Loop, Warburg Institute London; Bernd Roling, FU Berlin; Gerard Wiegers, Amsterdam; Outi Merisalo, Finland) The Gotha project is called &#8222;Johann Ernst Gerhard and the &#8218;Harmony&#8216; of Oriental Languages&#8220;.<\/p>\n<p>Johann Ernst Gerhard (1621-68) was a Lutheran theologian and oriental scholar (Wittenberg, Jena) of that pioneering generation that was eager to learn not only Greek and Hebrew, but also Arabic, Coptic, Syriac, Ge&#8217;ez etc. He certainly was not a first rate scholar, but a very typical one. In Gotha we have his letters (more than 2000), his Stammbuch, his travel diary, annoted dissertations, notebooks, works and his whole library &#8211; a perfect sample for a study. We aim at a monograph on Gerhard, which reconstructs his theories, networks, activities and scholarship.<br \/>\nFurther information: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.uni-erfurt.de\/forschungszentrum-gotha\/projekt\/johann-ernst-gerhard-und-die-harmonie-der-orientalischen-sprachen\/\">http:\/\/www.uni-erfurt.de\/forschungszentrum-gotha\/projekt\/johann-ernst-gerhard-und-die-harmonie-der-o&#8230;<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The profile of the post-doc that we are looking for is roughly:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>70% intellectual history of early modern Europe (philological skills, esp. Latin; reading manuscripts; working in archives)<\/li>\n<li>20% basic knowledge in Oriental languages<\/li>\n<li>10% basic knowledge of Lutheran theology<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Working place would be Gotha (University of Erfurt). The position can be filled a soon as possible and is limited to 30.09.2016. The salary is based on the German public service salary scale (13 TV-L).<br \/>\nWe particularly welcome and encourage applications from women and disabled persons.
